Dentures and implant overdentures in Riyadh

Removable teeth for people missing many or all of their teeth, from conventional dentures to overdentures that clip onto dental implants for a more secure fit.

Complete and partial dentures

A complete denture replaces all the teeth in a jaw; a partial denture fills gaps between remaining natural teeth. Dentures can now be designed digitally and milled or 3D-printed (CAD/CAM), which helps reproduce a consistent fit and makes replacement easier.

Implant-retained overdentures

An overdenture clips onto attachments on dental implants. It is far more stable than a conventional denture, especially in the lower jaw, while still being removed daily for cleaning. With enough implants, an upper overdenture can be made without covering the palate, which many patients find more comfortable for taste and speech.

Fixed or removable?

Fixed full-arch teeth stay in and feel closest to natural teeth, but need more implants. An overdenture usually needs fewer implants and is easier to clean. The choice depends on bone, hand dexterity for cleaning, and preference. See full-arch dental implants for the fixed option.

Dr. Almalki's approach

Digital implant overdentures are an area of Dr. Almalki's research and teaching. He has published on patient-reported outcomes of palateless CAD/CAM implant overdentures (Digital Dentistry Journal, 2026) and spoke on digital implant overdentures at the American College of Prosthodontists Digital Symposium (2025).

FAQ

Common questions

Brush and floss as you would natural teeth (a water flosser or interdental brush helps around implants), keep up with regular checkups and cleanings, and avoid excessive force like chewing ice or very hard foods.

Commonly two implants for a lower overdenture, and four or more for an upper overdenture, especially if the palate is to be left uncovered. The final number depends on bone and the chosen design.

It is held by attachments on the implants, so it is much more stable than a conventional denture. It may have slight movement compared with fixed teeth, and it is removed daily for cleaning.

Sometimes an existing denture can be adapted to attach to new implants. Often a new denture gives a better fit and result. This is decided after examination.
